Life goes on

I haven't blogged for to long....so I have so much to catch up on!
Last weekend was good! We were supposed to hang out with Air and K, but they ended up going to a bday party for someone, so we went and hung out with Robbie and her husband Todd for the evening. Since Trav and I didn't work, we slept in and watched a movie before starting in on our mojito's at 4! We took the party over to Robbie's at about 5 and Trav helped them with the pony keg of Hef that they were trying to finish off! I stuck to my mojito's! We talked and laughed and enjoyed ourselves! We watched I am legend, which I actually enjoyed. I didn't think I would!
Saturday we did lots of yard work! It felt so good to get it done. We still have a long way to go though! We got our apple tree trimed finally! yay!
That evening Trav and I had an "us" night. We had a really fun night together.
Sunday was Easter so we woke up early and went to church with my family. It was a really good service! After church we went to Easter lunch at Trav's parents and then back to my parents for dessert and leftovers! We didn't get home till almost 11 but it was a great day with family!
The work week was busy! And long! I was glad when Friday was here again!
We had plans with Lindsey and Brian and Jeff so we met up at GameTime for some good food and drinks and to watch the March Madness Games! 2 of my teams lost and 2 of them won. After dinner (which was delicious) we headed back to Lindsey and Brians to have more drinks. Lindsey and I planned to drink LOTS since we're gonna slow down on the drinks for a while! Trav and I brought the Wii to, so we played Wii games and drank and had a great time! Lou and I had tequila slammers and Brian and Jeff took straight shots of tequila! Trav stayed away from the tequila! Thats my man!
We had a really fun night!
Today we got up early to go meet with our tax lady and sign for our taxes. We owe this year which really sucks! After that we went grocery shopping and got all our Sunday chores done because Amber is in the hospital being induced to have little Coraline. When she gives birth (which should be tomorrow) we are going to head to Portland to see our first niece!
Tonight we are getting together with Mon and another friend to do some drinking and just have tons more fun!
Thats all for now!

Traveling Home

A little scary part to our perfect trip, was the trip home. When we were flying home the lady at the ticket counter asked why our passports weren't stamped. We explained that when we flew in we handed the checker lady our passports and immigration forms and she smiled and handed them back to us and then told us to push the button for the red or green light. Then we were out. She didn't take our forms or stamp our passports. We were tired from traveling all day so we didn't even think about it. She said we'd need to go to the immigration office when we got to Mexico City to get it stamped. When we got to Mexico City we asked the first person we saw at a ticket counter and he explained that we'd need to go downstairs to immigration. He told us where it was...in broken english, and we headed that way. This is a huge airport and it was a very long trip. We finally got there and got in line. When we got to the front the man there told us we were at the wrong immigration and gave us directions to where we needed to be (again in horrible english). We were frustrated but headed the way he told us to go and ended up at the same place we had just asked the other man who sent us down there! So we explained what happened and he said he was sorry but that was international immigration and we actually needed domestic immigration and explained where that was. So we went on other long trek to find domestic immigration. We got lost and asked several workers to help us but no one spoke english. By this time we were starting to panic so we were running to find it. We finally got there and they told us we actually needed the immigration office which was in office number 78, you guessed it, on the other side of the airport. I was really frustrated because no one seemed to know where we were supposed to go and we rarely even found anyone who spoke any english. I was starting to worry about missing our plane. We were supposed to be boarding in less than an hour. So we ran all over the airport and finally found a little dark hallway in the back where we saw we were at office #30 or so. We ran down the hallway and the numbers were getting bigger, we were relieved because we only had about 20 minutes before boarding now. We got to office 78 and there was a note on the door that said it had been moved to office 10. WHAT?!?! We had no idea where that was. It said it was downstairs though, and we hadn't seen an office 10 in the hallway so we went downstairs and started asking. Finally someone understood and you guessed it, it was on the other end! We were sprinting at this point. We found it. There was someone ahead of us in line but since our flight was boarding at the moment Trav said it was an emergency and that our flight was boarding. The one guy that was behind the counter didn't even look up at us! So Trav said it again, still nothing, after about 3 minutes he went and got a lady to help us. She spoke no english and after giving us a confused look like she didn't know why we were there, she got out some forms, all in Spanish and told us to sign in like 3 places on them. We tried to ask what we were signing because we could read it but she couldn't explain it. Then she said she needed $23 for each of us. Trav whipped out his credit card and she said cash only. We had NO cash. So Trav went to the ATM to get cash from his credit card which we've never done before....we we didn't have a pin and couldn't get it. AHHHH. When he told me he couldn't get money I started crying. I'd been on the verge for over an hour so when I started I was practically sobbing. The lady said there was nothing she could do without the money. A different guy came out of a back room and started stamping all our stuff and then gave us a letter and told us we could go. Our flight had been boarding for 15 minutes now and you know it, our gate was on the other side of the airport so in my flip flops that were giving me blisters I SPRINTED with Trav through the airport. We got there without a minute to spare. So Trav ran up to the counter and asked if we were to late. We were sweaty and out of breath. The guy said the plane was late and hadn't even arrived yet. We collapsed on the floor in a pile. I started crying again. I'm a little concerned because I have no idea what we signed. Is Mexico going to mail us a bill or something because we couldn't pay?? We were really glad to get out of Mexico City! Needless to say. I have never been that scared in my life!

AMAZING PARADISE

I’m BACK!
Our trip was AMAZING!! There is so much to tell!
We got up at 2:30am on Saturday morning. It was a little tough, but not to bad because we were so excited! We loaded the car and the cat and headed to my parents. We left Kayden at my parents and they drove us to the airport. I was a little nervous about getting through customs and everything in time. I’ve been that person running through the airport to get to my plane on time before and it’s not a good feeling! Everything went smoothly though and we were sitting at our terminal waiting for our plane in about an hour.
The flights there were very smooth. They even fed us on both flights. Our first flight was a little over 5 hours but it had 2 movies to entertain us. Then we had a 2 hr layover in Mexico City before hopping on the plane to Cancun. The view flying into Mexico City is breathtaking. It’s just city for as far as the eye can see!

We got into Cancun at about 7pm their time. We gained 2 hours on the flight. We found our transfer bus and got to our resort a little after 8. We were SO excited! The resort was amazing. We walked into a beautiful lobby with fountains everywhere, marble tiles, and swan and flamingos in the fountains. We went to check in and got upgraded to a Jr suite right on the next to the pool and beach. Our room was huge. The bathroom was all tile and we had a patio overlooking a garden. We even had a little living room in our suite! We were very impressed. The rooms come stocked with a mini bar that is free of charge and they re-stock it daily! It was filled with sodas, beers, and bottled waters! Since it was 9pm Trav and I headed to the buffet for some dinner. There was so much to choose from and it was all delicious. I ordered my first drink, a strawberry blended margarita, and Travis got a cervesa. We heard lots of laughing and yelling coming from nearby, so after dinner we decided to find out what it was all about. There was a magic show in a huge theatre bar. We ordered a few more drinks and found a seat to watch it. It was a lot of fun. I tried an amaretto sour and it was blended and delicious! I was hooked!
After the show we were pretty exhausted and wanted to get up early so we headed to bed a little after midnight the first night.

The sunshine coming through the drapes woke me up at about 8:30. We got up and got ready for our day. The resort is huge and made up of 5 different hotels. We have access to all of them, and of course all the activities they have. Pretty much the only difference is which room you’re staying in. They have a trolley that comes around to different stop about every 10 minutes so if you want to go to something on the other side of the resort you can just hop on the trolley so you don’t have to walk as far. First things first, we headed to check out the beach. The water was that amazing clear light blue color that you find in tropical places. It was beautiful. We walked along the beach and let the waves hit our feet. We needed to head back to the lobby to make our dinner reservations so we hopped on the trolley and headed back. We made reservations at the Steakhouse, the Mediterranean, and the Brazilian restaurant. We really like Mediterranean so we reserved it twice! Then we headed to check out the pool. The pool was amazing. It is like a river that travels probably a mile around in a circle. It has 3 pool bars and several fountains, as well as a huge waterfall.
After lunch, Trav and I decided we minds well get started on some good drinks! We went to the pool bar and started ordering. The drinks there were amazing! Everything just tasted so good, it was hard to believe there was alcohol in it!! But there was! I saw them pouring it in!! Trav and I relaxed on comfy pool chairs under cabanas and sipped on our drinks. At 6 we got ready for dinner at the Brazilian Restaurant. It was so good. They have a buffet for the appetizers. I tried Salmon sushi….my first sushi. It was hard to get over the texture but the taste was out of this world. It was like a tender, smoky, buttery, melt in your mouth salmon. WOW. I also tried a red bell pepper stuffed with cheese. It was really good. They brought out a plate with vegetables and potatoes on it and then came out every 3 minutes with a huge skewer with different kinds of meat on them. There was tenderloin, sausage, pork lion, sirloin, etc. The last thing they brought out was cow glands. I didn’t try that!
After dinner we went to the show of the night which was movie night. They preformed famous parts of different movies. It was so much fun. They were all like Broadway shows and they acted and sang so well! They had some audience participation which was so much fun!!! I LOVED the shows. We got a great seat this night because we showed up a little earlier. We had our own waitress who kept the drinks coming. At the show I had strawberry margaritas with lime and a shot of tequila. I would just pour my shot into my margarita to make it a little stronger, but the Mexicans get SO excited when you order a shot of tequila! They start cheering! After that show we headed up to the bar and there was another couple about our age there we started talking to. We all decided to check out the disco club “Galaxy” together.
We had the trolley take us there. I was really cool. There were to stories. They 2nd story was a balcony with clear glass guards that overlooked the dance floor. There were black leather couches lining the walls downstairs. We danced until 3am. My feet were killing me and it started to clear out at about 2:30, so I took my sandals off on the dance floor. I want to the bathroom and when I came back there was not a soul on the dance floor with their shoes on! My idea caught on!
We headed back when it closed and since there was no trolley we had to walk. No big deal, but we were pretty gone and completely missed our turn! We didn’t realize it until we could see the highway!! We turned around and got home to crash into bed by 4!!

Needless to say we slept in a little the next day, but not to long. When you see that beautiful sunshine outside it’s too hard to stay in bed! We showered and went right down to the beach. We played in the water and walked all the way down the beach, about a mile. The water was warm and the waves were so much fun to splash around in. We’d lay out under the cabanas on the chairs and when we got to hot we’d jump into the ocean and play for a half hour and then head back to soak in some more sun rays. After a few hours we headed to the pool to swim. We swam through the whole pool and ended on a booth at the pool bar. We sat in the water and enjoyed the sun with a few drinks. It was great getting to know the other people at the bar, and getting to know the bar tenders. We stayed until about 6. They had live entertainment out at the pool to! We met a few people at the pool I’ll never forget. We met a young man, getting ready to graduate high school that year. He was from a very rich family but he was determined to make something of himself anyway. He said he was going to be a chemical engineer and save the world. It was nice to meet someone with all that money who had so much determination. We also met a middle aged gentleman who was a millionaire. He and his wife are taking their kids on a cruise at the end of the month, but his wife wanted to do something without the kids so he booked this trip for her at the last minute! Must be nice! What I loved is that all these people with all this money we’re flaunting it. We’d be talking to them for an hour or 2 and then a subject would come up and it would sort-of slip out and then Trav and start asking questions. They all seemed really humble!
We got ready for the steak house that night and my rib eye was huge and tasted wonderful! On our way to dinner we saw peacocks and lizards. I loved the wildlife! It was everywhere! We headed to another show and had a blast. After the show we went to the snack buffet to grab a snack and then headed to bed.

We woke up bright and early ready to get started with our day. We enjoyed our routine of heading to beach first thing and playing in the ocean, and then heading to the pool…..and pool bar. We were really starting to get to know that bar tenders at the pool bar! And they were starting to get to know us! We relaxed under the cabanas and played in the beautiful ocean. It was so much fun living in a bikini for 5 days!! And for dinner slipping on a sundress! We headed back to the room after the ocean because I forget my sunglasses and we decided to order some room service. We got tacos and a crab wrap. It was so fun having room service delivered for free!! After lunch we headed back to the pool bar. We sat on our stools in the water and this time the bar tenders, Luis and Juan Jose (JJ) made me a specialty drink and had Trav’s beer ready for him when we sat down! We met another couple at the bar and ended up talking to the guy for a long time. His girlfriend had to go get ready for dinner. Anyway, after about an hour he said we needed to take a shot. Trav doesn’t do shots of tequila and I wasn’t ready so instead he ordered us a shooter. It was amazing! I think it was tequila, melon liquor and grenadine, but I’m really not sure. It was good. After that he ordered us a tequila slammer which is tequila, sprite, and grenadine and they put a napkin over it and slam it on the counter before you take it so it gets fizzy. Yum! We had the whole bar taking shots in no time! That evening when we went to leave the pool we couldn’t find our stuff. Someone had cleaned it up. We didn’t have a room key or anything, so it was a little embarrassing walking all the way to the lobby with only my bikini on and Trav in his swim shorts. On our way we ran into a gentleman who asked us who happened. When we told him he said he’s take care of it for us. He got us a golf cart driver to take us to the lobby and he walked us right up to the front desk and demanded our things. They started making excuses and telling us we couldn’t get them until the next morning when it got sorted out. Our new friend wouldn’t let it go, so I wandered over to the lobby bar to get a drink while we waited. It wasn’t long before they brought our things out. J We hurried back to the room to get ready for the Mediterranean restaurant. This was my favorite restaurant. It was beautiful with glass all along the walls and a view of fountains and the flamingos and swans. The food was UN believable. They had those little salmon sushi’s that were so good, and several other yummy appetizers. I ordered red snapper with potatoes and it was amazing. For dessert they had these dark chocolate things that were filled with a dark chocolate amazing moose. Oh my gosh it was so good.
That night we headed to the show but we weren’t enjoying it as much so we headed to the lobby bar instead. While we were there we met a group of people from Boston. I love their accent! It was fun just listening to them. First we met a small guy, he was a fire fighter in Boston. Then we met his wife. She was really sweet. He kept talking about his friend this and his friend that so we asked if his friend was there. He said oh yeah, you should meet him, “Charlie, come over here”. We turned around and a giant started walking toward us. Seriously, he was like 6’6 – 350 pounds!!! A little scary…..but after we met him the fear was gone! He was the nicest guy ever! I was convinced that he was in the mafia! And he was tipping the bar tenders with $50’s and $100’s! I got them taking shots with us. I don’t even remember how many shots we took that night. They just tasted so good! Off to bed….

We were up to our last full day of our trip. I didn’t want it to be over….I just wasn’t ready. We had a great last day though! Our plan was to not drink much because we woke up feeling a little run down…..I can’t imagine why! HAHA
So we continued our routine of going to the beach to play in the ocean and relax on the cabanas, and then went swimming in the pool. We avoided the bar though. We decided we wanted to see the WHOLE resort, all the other hotels and everything so we took a nice long trolley ride around the whole thing. Those trolleys were a lot of fun. You had to hold on because they took you for a ride! We had reservations at the Mediterranean again and I was really excited to go back. Trav got the lobster and crawfish, and I stuck to my red snapper. We had some wine to accompany our meals. It was again delicious! For dessert I tried Mexican Coffee which had tequila, khaula and cinnamon in it. They bring you’re the coffee plain and the liquor in a metal container and they light it on fire and then pour it into your coffee! It was really fun and tasted yummy. We headed to the last show we could….it was “Las Vegas” We got great seats again and the show was so good! They did Cher, Michael Jackson, and a ton of others! We got our own waitress again and we were feeling a little better so we started ordering some drinks. Pina Coladas, Mai Thais, Bahama Mamas…..the list goes on! They were all to die for. After the show we were feeling really good and went up to the bar where we ran into our Boston friends again! We took a few shots with them, for old times sake and then they headed to bed. Trav and I wanted to end the trip right, so we headed to Galaxy again and danced our butts off!!! We wanted to get up early on our last day so we could soak up as much sun as possible before meeting our shuttle bus at 1. We headed back at about 1 and we caught a golf cart driver who took us home!

We got up bright and early Thursday and went right to the beach. We soaked in the sun and played in the water for a couple hours. We had a little breakfast and then got ready. After we were ready we went and sat at the pool until about 12:30 when we had some lunch before saying goodbye to paradise. It was truly amazing. From the marble floors, to the stone pillars, to the wildlife, to everything being free, to the couches in the lobby, to the shows…..it was all so much fun! I’d recommend it to anyone! We are already planning a trip back! It’s not over yet though…..

VACATION TIME!!!

Yep, you got it right, we are leaving for our resort on the shores of the Riviera Maya, Mexico this Saturday! 41 hours until we are on the plane to Mexico. :) Tomorrow we're heading to bed nice and early, and the alarm will start ringing at 2:30am telling us to get up, get ready and GET GOING!
I am pretty excited. This is a much needed break for us! We still have packing to do, and a few things to buy for the trip. And Kayden is a little bit of a concern. He is doing well, but there is still a middle section on his wound that is not closing very quickly. I was hoping he would have skin covering the whole wound before we left, but it's not looking like that's going to happen. It is much better than it has been though! All that's left is the middle section and then the fur will grow back on the skin and fill out and he'll be our NORMAL cute little Kayden again! I'm trying not to worry at all with leaving him. We are leaving him in good hands...with my parents over the weekend and they are taking him to board at the vet during the week. I would just feel better if his care taker didn't have to worry about an open wound at all....then they wouldn't have to mess with putting antibiotic on it and it wouldn't be as big of a deal if they didn't have to to let it air out a little every day! But, it's out of my control so I'm trying to let it go.
Trav and I are going to have so much fun on our trip! I'm going to live on the beach with a margarita! I'll take breaks to go on the hobbie cats, or for a trip on the canoe...and of course go snorkeling! And swimming. I'll spend a good amount of time in the Jacuzzi with the waterfall to!
Free drinks, free meals, free shows, free nightclubs, free activities....could a person ask for more? It looks the the weather is going to be in the mid to high 80's while we're there. Perfect!
Yes, we are looking forward to this trip very much. We're evening looking forward to when we get back. Kayden should be well enough that we can leave him alone, so we'll be able to go to the gym again, and hang out with our friends. Then April will be right around the corner and that's the month we should be able to pay our debt off! Summer will be right around the corner and I love summer. BBQ's and nice weather! Camping, bike riding, roller blading, enjoying the outdoors! We have lots of plans for our yard this spring/summer also. Hopefully by the end of the summer it will look a lot nicer!
We have so much to be thankful for. It's looking like Kayden is going to pull through this whole ordeal which is a huge weight off my shoulders! He is such a blessing in our lives. He can always bring a smile to our faces. And I am so blessed to have such an amazing husband!
Alright, I'm going to finish up my work day, and then pack my little heart out! I probably won't blog again until we're back from our trip! Have a great weekend and week!!
