Grow grass Grow!

Another weekend has come and gone! Our friend Ladd came to stay with us over the weekend. He brought with him his new puppy, Zeus. He is pretty much the cutest, sweetest, most loving little puppy I have ever been around. And he is a pit! I fell in love with him. Even though he chewed on my furniture, and peed on my floors!
We got a lot of work done over the weekend. We were blessed with nice weather so early Saturday morning the boys went and rented a thatcher. We thatched the front and back 2 times. A couple sections in the back we thatched 3 times. It was really bad. We returned the thatcher by 2pm, and headed to Home Depot to buy grass seed and top soil. We started with 3 big bags or top soil and a 10lb bag of seed. After the front lawn we went back for 7 more bags of top soil, and we could have used several more!
By the end of the day we were exhausted, but we did it. We thatched and overseeded the front and back lawn....all in a days work! Now we just have to water twice a day when it doesn't rain, and wait for the seed to start growing. We have several other yard projects we'd like to do this spring and summer! Ladd is a landscaper and is very helpful in that area! Thank you Ladd!
Saturday night we went out for sushi and then partied it up at the house. We were up until very late! 5am. :)
Sunday we slept in until noon and then made some breakfast and sat around playing with Zeus and relaxing. Ladd headed back to Bend at about 2:30 in the afternoon. After he left Trav and I did our regular Sunday errands and chores, and at about 5 had some dinner and settled in the the evening.
Over the week we met with a lawyer about my medical case for the auto accident. I think we are going to hire him. He seemed very knowledgeable on the subject, and has been handling cases like this for over 15 years. My medical coverage was cut off effective 4/9/08 as far as the insurance is concerned, even though I am still having problems. I had to go to an independent examiner to see if the treatment I've been getting is still reasonable. He didn't take xrays or anything, he just wrote a letter stating that a female of my age should be fine after 4 months of treatment, so I'm fine. Well, thats absurd, and I'm NOT fine. So, the battle begins. It looks like I'll need to pay for treatment myself unless my treating physician can convince them otherwise. I can't really afford it, but I need it. I won't go as often as I was, but I will be sure to continue going.
This weekend we are planning on going to dinner with Mon and JD. Hopefully we'll go to Strega, a new restaurant in Corvallis Travis and I have been wanting to try!
Well, I guess it's time to get back to my Monday. I'm trying to enjoy every moment these days....but the countdown is already on for Friday!! Have a good week!

A birthday weekend

Monday Monday.....not the best day of the week. But, I'm going to make the best of it!!!
Wednesday was Trav's bday!! I took him out for a birthday lunch, and after work we headed to his parents for a birthday dinner.
Amber and Jason surprised us by coming down for the occasion. So of course everyone took turns holding Coraline. Dinner was delicious, and Travis scored some more great gifts! He got lots of books from Amber and Jason, and some blinds for our bedroom window from his parents.
Friday we got some friends together and went to Red Lobster for his birthday. Linds and Brian, Air and K, and Mon and JD were going to join us!
We carpooled with Linds and Brian, and Air and K showed up right on time....but where were Mon and JD? We waited about 15 mins before I gave Mon a call. Poor Mon....she said, I thought the dinner was Saturday night? Oh my goodness....I realized I had given her the wrong night!! I felt terrible. So she wished Trav a happy bday from home and told us to have fun. I am going to have to make that up to her!!!
Anyway, dinner was wonderful! I had crab legs and salmon with broccoli and green salad. YUM! Trav had a platter of scallops, squid, fish, and shrimp. It looked really good. We of course ate plenty of cheesy biscuits, and took several home! Brian made sure the staff sang Happy Birthday to him! And they brought him ice cream. It was really fun.
After dinner we went back to the house to have cake and play the Wii. We rocked out on guitar hero for a while, and then switched it to bowling.
Saturday we slept in! Thank goodness! I needed to catch up! When we got up we wandered to the store to get the ingredients for the birthday dinner (yes this is like the fourth one) Trav requested I make for him. He wanted cheese ravioli with chicken in a cream sauce, salad, and garlic bread. My parents came over at 5, bearing more gifts! Wine and slippers! We sat down to dinner at 6. Of course after dinner we had to rock out on guitar hero a little, and then switched to sports. My dad loves sports. So we hit the baseball for a while, then Trav and I boxed, and finally we changed it to a less strenuous game of bowling. I am still feeling sore from the baseball and boxing!!
Sunday we did all our regular chores and errands before Trav's friend Ryan came to visit. They hung out and, you guessed it, played guitar hero (At least Trav is getting good use out of his gift!!) for about 3 hours.
We crawled into bed at 10 and the next thing I knew, the alarm was going off telling to get up and start a new week. So here I am!!
Tonight we are going to dinner at the Clarks for Trav's dad's bday. More good food! And Wednesday we are meeting with a lawyer to go over my medical auto claim. I will be happy when this is all over, and hopefully I will be all better by then!
Have a good week everyone!

Life in Clark-land

It's 3pm on Tuesday! Almost time to go home, have some dinner (burritos are on the menu tonight), hit the gym for a nice workout, and come home to relax!
Tomorrow is Trav's 26th bday!! Happy Birthday to my dear husband!
I got him guitar hero 3, but I gave it to him on Friday because I couldn't stand keeping the secret! And I knew he wouldn't mind getting his gift early! Plus, that evening we were getting together with friends and I wanted to be able to bring it to the party! We have had so much fun playing it!
Friday night we had dinner with Brian, Lindsey, Jeff, and Maria. Jeff recently accepted a job and is going to be out of the Allied death grip next week! Go Jeff! So we had to celebrate. We went to dinner at our new favorite place, GameTime, and then headed to Lindsey and Brians where we rocked out on guitar hero until 1. It was a lot of fun.
Saturday was an amazingly beautiful day here in the valley! It got up to 85! We had to dog sit for the Clarks Sr. so we headed to Corvallis a little after noon. We took Buddy roller blading to enjoy the weather and get his walk in, all at the same time! We came back for a break and played some guitar hero before heading back out. This time we went on a much longer trip, leaving Buddy at home.
It was so nice out, and it was a lot of fun to go rollerblading in places we used to about 10 years ago! At about 6 we headed back to BBQ some dinner!
That night we played guitar hero for probably 6 hours! It was a blast.
Sunday was just the usual. Chores, grocery shopping, and relaxing before the new week begins!
Now we're back to it! Tomorrow we are going to Trav's parents for Bday dinner. Friday we are going to Red Lobster with Lindsey, Brian, Air, K, Mon and JD to celebrate, and Saturday evening we are going out with my parents to celebrate! Lots of parties for Trav.
Well, I still have some work to do and 5 is starting to close in on me! Back to it! Have a great week!!

A big pay-off

Ok, I'm just excited and had to brag a little!
Trav and I are going to pay off our 2nd mortgage this month or early next month!! Even though we had to PAY on our taxes this year...almost $1000! We have been working SO SO hard to get this sucker paid off that we've really limited out spending cash for the last year...but it looks like we're gonna make it! It was our small small mortgage, but we didn't want that extra payment! $16,500! $21,500 with our HD cc and $23,500 with the unexpected taxes and vet/car bills! That is a lot to pay off in a year.
Let me tell you it took a lot of hard work and dedication from Trav and I!
WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I am so so so happy to have it be gone. We still have so much we want to pay off, but that was a big goal for us and we are almost there. I feel like all we do is pay off debt! First cc's, then saving for a house, then the 2nd mortgage and the HD cc that we used for repairs and updating the house!
But wow, we are so close now I can taste it!
Sorry to rant and rave for so long!

April is here!

Yay! April is here at last!!
And it's Friday! Thank Goodness!!
Last weekend was a lot of fun! We had a great time with L and B Friday night, and with Mon and K Saturday night. Saturday night we ended up staying awake until after 5am! We played games, drank drinks (I had more daiquiri's with Mon) and fell asleep playing the Wii!
Sunday was spent waiting for the call that Amber had delivered the baby! We left the house at 1 because we were told she was quickly progressing. About 10 mins into our trip we got a call that she wasn't progressing at all, so we stopped at my parents house to wait. We had some lunch and watched a couple movies with them. It was a lazy afternoon, but very enjoyable!
At 7 we got a call that they were going to take the baby c-section. We decided to go up Monday instead because it was a long drive and we had work in the morning. At 10 we got the call that she was born. 7lbs 1 oz and 19 inches long.
Monday after work we drove up to see her. She was very sweet. Trav held her for about a half hour and then I did. It was a long day and LOTS of driving, but I am glad we got to see her!
This has been a very long week. Work has been busy, and so has home! Kayden has been licking his tail a lot....so much that the hair is coming off! So we've been trying to keep him from doing that! If it's not one thing, it's another! We bought something called bitter apple that is supposed to keep him away from it because it smells and tastes bad. I think it's helping, but it doesn't repulse him as much as I was hoping it would!
I am very happy it's Friday again! Tonight I think we'll take a nap and then meet Lindsey and Brian for dinner at GameTime. After dinner I think we'll play some Wii and watch a movie before bed. Tomorrow we're going to a big sale in Salem in the morning.
We're just chuggin along....taking life one day at a time! Have a great weekend! TGIF! :-)
