Poor Emma!

Vacation started for me on Friday the 20th. I had a spa pedicure at noon. I slept in, and got to the spa right on time. I haven't had a pedicure since my last birthday, so I was well over-due! After my pedicure I went to help mom pick out a few outfits for our trip, and I used some of her self tanning lotion so my legs weren't so scary white. :) Trav got off work at 3 so I headed home to meet up with him. Ladd was due to arrive between 3 - 4.
Ladd and Zues (his doggy) arrived at about 4:30. It was really good to see them. We introduced Zues and Emma. They really seemed to like each other and played and played in the back yard.
Then we loaded up the crew and headed to Air's for taco's for dinner! Yummy!
The taco's were delicious!!! Mya, Bell, Emma, and Zues had a blast playing together. There were so many dogs in the living room! It was a little scary. :) We watched scary movies and drank wine. We had a lot of fun. Air had a big bag of treats and at about midnight she got them out to pass out to the dogs. We gave them all some treats, and then Ladd showed us some tricks Zues could do. In the process, one of the treats fell on the floor and both Zues and Emma went for it. Zues is very protective of his treats and was not happy that Emma tried to get it from him. He latched on to her neck and started whipping her around the room. Emma was crying and crying and I was totally helpless. Zues had locked down. The whole thing probably only lasted 30 seconds, but to me it felt like an hour until Ladd was able to get Zues to let go. We ushered Emma into another room to hold her and make sure she was ok. She was so scared. Just shaking. My heart was broken. I was just so happy there was minimal damage. She had one very minor bite mark, and one that was pretty deep. She slept in the room with us that night and we cuddled her lots.
In the morning, her spirits were much higher. She was even playing with Zues, Mya, and Bell again. But we decided we needed to take her in to get the deep bite looked at. She left the vet with stitches and antibiotics. Here she is in her shirt we put on her to cover the stitches because she kept scratching at them. Ladd stepped up to the plate and paid the whole bill. He felt terrible. He's going to get Zues some training to hopefully make him not attack other dogs over food/toys/treats. Zues is the sweetest dog. He is a lover and loves to play. He just gets to protective of his food.
Sunday morning we got up at 3am to get ready and have breakfast at Denny's. We wanted to be able to sleep that night by 6pm since we had to get up at 1am to leave. So we got up extra early so we'd be tired! We cleaned the house and finished packing before heading over to Air's at 9am to help her organize her garage and hang out. We were leaving Emma with her that afternoon as well.
We kissed Emma goodbye and headed to my parents for dinner before going to bed at 6pm that night to get ready to leave for our trip at 1am!

A Nice, Relaxing Weekend followed by a crazy week!

Travis and I had a really relaxing weekend. We pretty much just laid low and watched movies all weekend. My brother and his girlfriend Sara joined us Saturday evening for a couple movies. It was just what we needed...to relax.
Especially now that I've entered this week which has been complete craziness! I got a call from Air Sunday night. She was frantic because K had told her he wanted to talk to her. He reassured her that she didn't need to worry and it was nothing drastic. Of course that didn't work. Air was very worried. We couldn't figure out what he'd want to talk to her about. Everything in their relationship had seemed fine for the past several months.
He got home Monday, so they sat down and talked when he got home from work. Air was right to worry, because K broke up with her. She is completely heartbroken. Trav and I have been staying with her all week to keep her company and try and help her through this terribly hard time. I hope her heart heals quickly and she can get some understanding as to why it happened, and know that it wasn't anything she did.
Even beyond that, yesterday when I came into work, my boss Scott told me he needed to talk to me about something. Thats never a good thing to hear.....Well, Dan asked him to cut my hours. This is our slow season, and the economy has been terrible over the past few months/year, which is really affecting our business! We are just trying to stay afloat. Summer is always our busy season, so I am just hoping and praying that it really starts picking up. Scott said this is just temporary, and I should be back to full time by May. I am feeling lucky right now to even have a job. So many people have lost their jobs and it's very unsettling. I just continue to pray that our company survives this terrible economy! Hopefully I'll be back to full time in just a couple months. Until then, I have Friday's off, meaning 3 day weekends. I love 3 day weekends, but right now the money is more important to me. Plus, when things like this happen my mind always wanders to if things get worse am I going to lose more hours, or lose my healthy benefits, or lose my job completely? I hope it never comes to that!
So, it's been a crazy week! I am very tired. I feel like I may be coming down with a cold. I've been fighting one since winter but I feel like it might win soon. I don't want to be sick on our vacation, so I'm hoping that if it's going to come it will hurry, or that I will be able to fend it off! I am drinking lots of water and taking my vitamins every day!
This weekend we are going to get most of our packing done!! Yay! I can't believe we leave next weekend! It has been FREEZING this week, so I am more than ready for warmth and sunshine in Cancun. And a break from this reality!

Happy Birthday Dad!!

This weekend we celebrated my dad's birthday. It's always fun spending time with family. We went for a jog with Emma to start off Saturday. Then we loaded her up, with her toys, kennel, and *new* exercise pen and headed to my parents house. We started off in Salem, at my dad's favorite lunch spot, Bentley's. I got my usual, and favorite, the seafood chowder. It is choked full of seafood goodies! Salmon, shrimp (which I pick out and give to Trav because I really don't like shrimp) clams, crab....and more!
After lunch we went to get my dad's new air filter that he ordered, and made a couple other stops in Salem. We even went to Sears to pick out a new stove/range for my parents. I am really excited for them. They've needed a new one for a long time! Two of their burners don't work, and the two that do are SO slow. It takes about 20 minutes to boil water! The oven knob got messed up somehow, so preheat is really off, off is really broil, and so on. It's terribly confusing.
Anyway, they ordered a nice new one and it be here in a couple weeks!
Once we got home mom and I got his birthday cake ready to bake, and starting fixing dinner. We sat down at 7 for BBQ'd steak, steamed asparagus, and baked potatoes. Mom didn't have any spray or oil to coat the pan with, and it ended up sticking (even though it's a non-stick pan!) pretty bad. Normally it wouldn't have been a huge deal, but we were making a bunt cake, so it was really obvious. I will post a picture of it later because it really is a piece of art! Cake art. It was just family though, and no one cared. We did get some good laughs out of it though.
We headed home later in the evening. Emma had a fun day exploring my parents big yard, and playing frisbee with Joel and Trav.
Sunday Trav and I slept in. We got up at 10:30 and went into the living room, where we took an hour nap. :) It was a lazy Sunday! We did our usual, grocery shopping, cleaning, etc. Mom called me in the afternoon and we went at Ross to shop for sun dresses for our trip to Cancun!! It's coming up! I got 4 new dresses. I went there for one in particular, but I found 8 that I liked, and 4 that I REALLY liked. And with such great deals, I just couldn't pass it up! So I got one REALLY comfortable sun dress that is cute, light, and made of the greatest, softest, most comfortable material ever. It's not very fancy, but for casual beach days I'm going to want to just live in it! ($7) I got the one I went for, which is very "beach vacationy". It is brown and tan and the neckline is lined with brown wooden beads that go up the straps that tie in a halter around the neck. It's short and really cute. ($17) I also got a swimsuit cover up/summer dress. It's that tight tube top material on top and light blue and as it goes down it turns a darker blue. ($8) Last but not least I got a white halter top summer dress that has green flowers on it. It's hard to describe but very cute. ($12)
In the evening Emma "helped" me do the laundry....by taking all the whites I was sorting over to the darks, and visa versa. So it wasn't really a lot of help, but she thought it was. Trav and I cleaned up the house and relaxed before bed.
Now the week is here...and I'm already looking forward to Friday. I'm hoping for a relaxing weekend of doing a lot of absolutly nothing!
20 days till we leave for Cancun!!!!
