I can't believe how much has happened lately! Tuesday, July 3rd, I left the house a little earlier than normal to head to work. Travis had a big meeting on the other side of town, so he had to leave early, so I did the same.
It was a beautiful day, I was enjoying the weather, sipping my coffee. I just just getting ready to turn into our business park, but a semi truck was coming the opposite direction and of course he wanted to turn into the same place and had the right of way, so I stopped and waiting for him to turn. I heard screech noises so I looked in my rear view mirror and all I could see was a cloud of smoke and someone coming at me fast. In a split second he slammed into me, pushing my car sideways and a good 10 feet forward. I looked around the car, saw that I was ok and just felt rage building inside me. Growing up, my dad always had liability insurance on our cars, and I have since followed in his footsteps. All I could think about was the millions of times he told me that liability covers the other persons car, but not yours. I was reluctant to get out and see how much damage I would be paying to replace.
When I got out and went to the back of my car, I was amazed that I wasn't hurt...amazed that they didn't need an ambulance to take me away. The trunk of my car was completely caved in in the middle, to where it was touching the back seat. The frame in the back had been hit so hard that it sliced into my back tires and flattened them on impact. It was stuck in the tires, so the car couldn't roll. The frame had also gone over the back doors so they would not open. It was messed up. All I could think was that it was totaled and now I had no car. I called 911, then I called Travis, then my mom, and then my dad. The police were there in about 5 minutes, Travis showed up a few minutes after that, and my dad shortly after him. No one could believe how hard he had hit me. Finally, I realized that since the accident was HIS fault, his insurance would at least have to pay me. That calmed me down quite a bit!
It took an hour to get all the police reports filed, the tow truck to come haul my car away, and the mess cleaned up. I went to the DMV after all that to file the report there. I got back to the office at about 10, Travis brought me lunch at noon, and I had a doctors appointment at 2:30. In between all this, I was getting phone calls from both insurance companies, and from friends and family. It's nice knowing that so many people care about me!
Anyway, that whole process is still in the works! I got a rental, but I'm auguring with them about paying for the insurance that is REQUIRED for me to get....they don't want to pay it. What the heck?? I'm not going to pay it!! Anyway, I'm sure this will be a long, drawn out process.
Yesterday, I woke up and felt MUCH better than I expected. My neck was very sore, but not as sore as I suspected it would be. My doctor had told me to try and stay active so I didn't stiffen up and make it worse. So, Trav and I decided to take a rafting trip! It was beautiful weather! We got on the river at 10, and until about noon it was a great temp! At about noon it heated up a lot! It had to be in the 90's! We got off the river at 2:30, and went to a bbq at Travis parents. Very yummy hamburgers, baked beans, greek salad, iced tea, and fruit!! Then we went to cold stone creamery, and left at 5:30 for a bbq at my parents! We got there at 6, had some wine and chatted, and at 7:30 we bbq'd some hot dogs and corn on the cob! It was very good! We headed into Albany at 8:30 to get a spot for the fireworks.
The fireworks were great! It was an awesome finale!!
We got home at 10:30, and my brother hung out with us until I finally had to kick him out after midnight! I was so tired and I knew 6:30 would come very early! I felt like an old fogey telling him he had to go because I needed my sleep!
Anyway, there were still fireworks going off until about 1am. I think thats when I finally fell asleep.
It's back to work today. It was nice having Wednesday off! It's great having a day off right in the middle of the week. It makes to go by so much faster.
We're supposed to go camping this weekend. I'm pretty excited about it! I love camping, and I've only been a few times. Last year we started, and now we have a tent, sleeping bags, and air mattress, and a big cooler! All things we didn't have until we started camping last summer! We still would like a grill, a fan, and a lantern!
Well, I need to get back to work. Enjoy the rest of this short week! If you see any good deals on cars, let me know!! I'll be looking! Probably in the $3000 - $4000 range!

The beach
Trav and I just got back from our weekend at the beach. It was very nice! We got to stay with friends who were already renting a beach house, so all expenses were paid! We got there Friday at 7, checked out the house (very cool...over 2000 square feet and right on the beach) had some wine, and waited for dinner to get finished up. There was a bbq, but no grates so we had to go into a town that had a big enough store to carry grates at 9 pm...which ended up being about 45 minutes each way. SO we had very yummy bbq'd chicken, salad, and herd lemon rice at 11!! It was fun though! 9 people all sitting around the table for dinner so late was great!!
Trav and I brought 5 bottles of wine and 1 of champagne, and everyone shared 4 bottles on the first night!! We didn't know wine would be so popular among the bunch! There was TONS of alcohol there when we arrived....a gallon of vodka and bloody mary mix, yukon jack, gin, 90 proof cinnamon schnapps that you could just drink straight and it was like having a cinnamon candy, and more!
After dinner we cleaned up and at 1, put in a movie. I was tired so I fell asleep at the beginning, but from what I heard, I didn't miss much!
Saturday we woke up at 9:30 to beautiful sunshine shinning in the windows, had breakfast and coffee, and packed lunches and bloody mary's for a trip to a surfing beach. Trav and I didn't have surfing gear, so we were just along to lay on the beach and drink while our friends surfed away! The bloody mary's were very tasty and we had a great time just chillin out.
At about 4:30 we packed up and headed back to the house. We showered and got ready for dinner and a trip to Chinook Winds Casino. We headed out at about 6:30, and went to a close by restaurant called "Seafood Restaurant" for dinner. It was small and very hot inside, and there wasn't a table big enough for the 9 of us, so we decided to try somewhere else after sitting there for about 5 minutes.
We ended up about 20 miles down the coast at the "Crab cooker" and Trav and I had 1/2 a crab with garlic fries. Everyone shared their food though, so we got to try calamari, chowder, salmon candy, and oyster steamers. The crab was the best, but it was all VERY good, and one of our friends ended up picking up the whole tab. Very nice!!
After eating it was off to the casino. About another 30 minute drive. We got there at 9, and decided to meet back in the lobby at 10:30. Trav and I each took $10 to play with. We had fun playing for an hour and 15 mins on the penny and nickle slots, and left with $28, so we made a small profit. It was more about the fun though!
We headed back at 10:30 and arrived home at 11:30. It was good conversation for the hour ride home, and once we got home we sat around and drank and bs'ed for a couple more hours!
Another movie went in at about 1:30, and I watched most of this one, but went to bed before it was over. We got up at 9 to clean up the house, said goodbye to our friends, and headed to Newport to walk along the beach again before the drive home.
It was a great trip, good people and lots of laughing!!
Now it's time for chores and grocery shopping, but we are going out to dinner tonight with our winnings from the casino!!
I hope you all had a great weekend too!

NIght out
Last night was fun. Trav and I made pork and red potatoes with green beans and cottage cheese for dinner, and I had strawberries with cool whip for dessert. Yum! Then we watered the garden, and at about 7, I had a glass of champagne, and Trav had some wine. We were meeting some friends at Red Robin at 8, and I knew they would be having some drinks but Trav and I spent WAY to much at the Melting Pot over the weekend so I didn't want to spend a bunch more on drinks!! So, we proceeded to finish off a bottle of champagne, and half a bottle of wine before heading over!! We were feeling pretty good. Red Robin was fun. Everyone got drinks, I got a absolut lemonade, and Trav got a giant Heffy. Everyone else ordered food, but since we had already eaten we stuck to our drinks! At about 9:30 we headed home. Air and K came over to our house, and we polished off another bottle of wine! We played apples to apples and had a good time! We looked at the clock at 11 and couldn't believe what time it was!!! We usually head to bed at 10 or 10:30!! So we said goodnight to Air and K and headed to bed! I couldn't believe it was Tuesday when I woke up this morning! I thought it was Saturday and I couldn't figure out why my alarm was going off so early. It was a hard reality when I realized it was TUESDAY and I had to get up and go to work!! So that was rough. I'm feeling much better than I thought I would though!!
I am excited about this weekend. Trav and I are getting away on a much needed little vaca! We are going to our friends beach house. There will be a lot of people there, and a lot of people that we don't know, but it will be fun. I hope the sun is shining!! I'm like to go crabbing, lay on the beach, have some fires, have some drinks, and some nice relaxing walks along the beach. We are heading to Waldport right after work on Friday, and are staying Friday and Sat night, coming back Sunday afternoon. I am really looking forward to the break!
Not a heck of a lot going on besides that. It's nice to have a job where I can go back to planning trips and enjoying my life!! Oh, my friend Lindsey DID get that state job!! YAY! Her last day with Allied Wasted is July 6th! They are dropping like flies!
Alright, back to work!

The weekend
Good Morning.
Well, the weekend is over and I am once again back to work. The weekends always seem to go by so quickly. This weekend was fun. Trav and I went to Robbie's going away party and Wilhelms. I started to feel a little sick after a couple hours, so we headed home. We watched a couple movies, and at about 1 we headed to bed....well I fell asleep halfway through the 2nd movie. We slept in on Saturday, which was nice. I kinds wanted to get up before 11, but I was so tired...I don't know why.
Saturday we made a list of all the things we need from Home Depot, and we went to Corvallis to borrow Travs dad's truck. Then we took the truck to Travs work to pick up a really heavy metal desk for Trav to use as an art desk at home. We unloaded it and took the truck back to Corvallis. It was 3 at this point, and we still had to get my friend Lindsey a bday present for her party that night. I got her a card and a starbucks gift card. Then we went home and grabbed all our clothes to get ready for dinner at the Melting Pot in Portland...a very nice resturant we'd never been to, but had heard a lot about.
We got to the Holcombs at about 4:30, and Lindsey and I got dressed up. I love getting dressed up!! We headed to the Baurers to pick up Nate and Amy at 5:30, and had a couple glasses of wine at thier house in Keizer. At 7 we headed for Portland to make our 8 reservations. We had a huge 4 course meal...appetizer with cheese fondue to dip it in, salad, then entree of filet migoen, duck, shrimp, mahi mahi tuna, and tenderlion., along with some potatoes and veggies. YUM! It was so good! Then they brought out dessert, which was a wonderful platter of cheesecake, brownies, marshmellows, strawberries, and pinnapple to dip into the chocolate fondue. It was so so good. It cost a pretty penny, and we had 6 in our party so there was an automatic 18% gratunity added. Ouch. It was worth it though. The whole thing took 3 hours, but everything came quickly and we never really felt like we had to wait.
Then we headed home. We got home at 1, and went to bed.
Sunday we slept in until 11 again, and then we cleaned, did laundry, and got the office all set up. We only have 1 room left and then we want to organize the garage really well and work on the yard. I wanted to work on the yard a little this weekend, but we never made it to that.
This weekend we are going to Waldport to stay in a beachhouse with our friend Ladd. We are packing up Thursday and heading over Friday right after work. I am really looking forward to getting away for a while.
YAY!
Alright, I'd better get back to work.

The first week
I survived the first week of my new job!! It's 4pm on Friday and I am ready to go home! Tonight is my friend Robbie's going away party for leaving CDC. I worked with her there for about 9 months. She is calling it quits to pursue being a real estate agent. I think she will be great at it. Her kids just graduated from hs, and she doesn't really need to work, she just wants something to keep her busy so this will be perfect for her! She can work when she wants!
Anyway, the party should be fun! We are going to Wilhelms and then Humpty's Dump. :)
My friend Lindsey had a 2nd interview with the state yesterday, and a phone interview with OSU today. She is raking them in!! I hope she finds something quickly and can get out of Allied! They are so wishy washy, you never know whats coming next...and they certainly don't communicate it to you right away!! They tell you the day it changes and never ask for your opinion! I think she is going to get an offer from the state, which would be a great job!! We both plan on starting a family in the next couple years!
This week I've had a little extra time to think....and I realized how blessed I am. I have a new house, it's not a mansion but it's big enough to have a family in....big enough that we really would never HAVE to leave it, although we probably will someday. :) We have been able to make upgrades to it!
I have a wonderful husband....we are both headed in the same direction which is very helpful! He is willing to help out with cooking and cleaning, and he always does without complaining. He takes great care of me, and I KNOW that he loves me very much which is a wonderful feeling to have.
Now, I work 7 minutes from my house, I get to have lunch with Travis, we are on exactly the same schedule so we get to get up and get ready in the morning together, have lunch together, have dinner together, etc, and go to bed together which is very important to me!! It has been wonderful! Plus, I have a great job. I have some spare time, but it's also busy so I'm not bored! They don't care what I do when it's slow, as long as my work is done, so I don't have to "fake" being busy. Plus, I got an office manager title, and they are great people to work for. I can be myself!!
I'm so glad that things are going well. Hopefully they will continue down this path! There is still lots of work to do all the time, but I'm ready for it!!
Have a great weekend!!

A new beginning
Well, I have started my new chapter! I started my new job on Monday. It has been such a relief. I don't think it's completely soaked in yet! I miss the heck out of Lindsey Lou.....we had so much fun driving together everyday! But we will still hang out cuz we're bf's! :) We have so much in common... I love her to peices!
Anyway, I have been learning this new job...as an office manager! It's been fun. There is always so much information at the beginning of a new job, I feel like I will never remember it all....but I know in a month I'll have it down pat.
Trav and I are still plugging along at the house. There is still work to be done. We need to kill the clover in our lawn and fertilize it! And we need to put light fixtures and door knobs on, and switch covers! And we'd love to organize the garage! But, it's so nice out we'd also like to spend our weekends camping or rafting! Or at the beach! We are planning lots of camping trips. I'm pretty sure 4 are already in the works!
Lindseys 24th bday is the 25th, so we are going to a nice dinner at the Melting Pot this weekend to celebrate. I'm pretty excited! I always love to get dressed up for nice dinners!
Well, It's time to get some work done!
Until next time...

A new chapter
Well, the day has finally come! I have decided on a new job. On Monday, I was offered to jobs, and it was hard to choose between them. I decided to go with and office manager position, in Albany. I can't even imagine how exciting it will be to work so close to home....have lunches with my husband, and hopefully have a much more fun and relaxing job! I am looking forward to the new chapter!
Today is my 25th b-day....it was a stressful work day....day 3 of our month end close, and I had to decide on which job I was gong to accept, accept it, let the other employer know that I wasn't avaliable, and let my current employer know that I was leaving. WOW, I was glad when all that was over. Then it was the hour drive home, with my friend and co-worker Lindsey....I will miss working with Lindsey dearly, but we will stay friends!! I got home to a clean house, a dozen beautiful pink roses and a sweet card and gift (apples to apples...I LOVE that game) from my wonderful husband. I don't know what I would do without him. He has definatly been a rock for me the past few challenging months! I love him so very much!!
Then it was off to b-day dinner at my parents. We had a lot of fun! Drank some cran and vodkas....made with my vodka bday present from my friend Kaleb, and played my new games apples to apples. It was a lot of fun! I have 2 moer bday dinner celebrations this week and I had one on Saturday with our friends Erika and Kaleb! It's nice to feel loved!!
Well, I'm off for today....I thought I should share the new, good, and scary news!! It is a new chapter to our lives...I am excited to see what happens next!
